The grounds of Chokyuji Temple are the remains of the castle. Fukushima Sado no Kami Yuryou was holed up in Tamaru Castle.
When he was attacked in December of Tensho 15 (1587), he surrendered, became a monk, and turned the castle into a temple.
Currently, only the moats and earthworks remain, conveying what the area was like at the time.
