We are currently temporarily closed.
Horaikan was a theater built in 1882, where the finest Kabuki actors and famous actors of the time performed one after another, and it is said that there was a constant stream of visitors from the surrounding area as well as from Oita and Beppu.
Horaikan, one of the most famous temples in the Kansai and Kyushu regions, was demolished during forced evacuation during the war, bringing an end to its glorious history. After the war, it was developed into a garden, and there are many cherry trees within the grounds, including one that is said to be the Edo Higan cherry tree of Yang Guifei.
