Haseji

Founded in 724, this ancient temple is the second temple on the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage. The oldest Asuka Buddha statue in Kyushu, made of copper and made by Hasedera Temple (a nationally designated important tangible cultural property), is open to the public every April 2th. There is a course (Hasedera 20 Temple Pilgrimage Path) that goes around 2 stone Buddha statues over a distance of about 88km along the mountains and rocks that are connected to the inner sanctuary of the temple.
