The remains of the castle of the Nakama clan, lords of Hitotsubo. The castle lord, Nakama Mototane, joined the forces of Kanbei.
Hitotsube Castle was considered important because it was close to the border with Bungo and Chikugo, and the Nakama clan was left to guard the castle.
The castle ruins still contain stone walls that were constructed during the Hosokawa period.
