This is the remains of a castle called Shirome Castle.
Originally it was a branch castle of the Nonakada clan, but after the fall of Nagaiwa Castle, its former territory was given to Kuriyama Toshiyasu, one of the Kuroda Twenty-Four Riders, who made Hirata Castle his residence.
Daizen Kuriyama, famous for the Kuroda Incident, was the son of Toshiyasu and spent his childhood in this castle. Currently, part of the stone wall from the Kuroda period remains on the castle ruins.
