Weeping cherry blossoms at Kokakiyama Kouenji Temple

Koenji Temple is located on a small hill in the Ogakiyama community, and there is a weeping cherry tree to the right of the temple grounds. The tree is said to be over 350 years old, with a trunk about 3m thick and over 10m tall, and hangs down over a 10m square area on the city road in front of the temple. In the flowering season, the magnificent blooms and fragrance are a sight that is difficult to describe.
The cherry blossoms bloom from late March to early April, and during this period a Cherry Blossom Festival is held by a local processing group.
