Mt. Hachimen Area

Sanko Area

This is a great photo spot where magnificent nature and photogenic spots intertwine, including the Sanko Cosmos Garden, one of the largest in western Japan (mid- to late October), trekking on Mount Hachimen, the symbol of Nakatsu City, and the night view from the observation deck (certified as a Japan Night View Heritage).

Ao-no-domon Area

Honyabakei area

The scenery of the strangely shaped rocks, including the Ao-no-Domon Cave and Kyoshuho Peak, which were carved out by the traveling monk Zenkai over 30 years, is a work of art by nature. The rock surfaces, eroded over the years, and the unique silhouettes are definitely worth seeing.

Hitome Hakkei Area

Yabakei area

Yabakei is one of the three best places in Japan for viewing autumn leaves, along with Nikko and Arashiyama. The most spectacular of these is the "Hitome Hakkei" (Eight Views at a Glance), so named because it features eight strangely shaped rocks that can be seen at once. These spectacular views are dotted throughout the various areas of Yabakei, and the scenery that changes with the seasons, as well as the autumn leaves, makes a perfect driving course.

Sarutobi Gorge Area

Mountain Country Area

Sarutobi Sentubo Gorge is like a work of art created by a mountain stream. The clear water flow and abundant nature are soothing to visitors. The nearby Mabayashi Gorge has a walking trail where you can enjoy the contrast between the dramatic rock formations and nature.
